A Challenging Friend

A good friend of mine challenged me to paint several winter scenes recently.  I was challenged to four but the issue of moving for a job came up and I've only finished two, one of which he and his wife bought.  If you ever get the chance to see Bob White's work, do it.  A google search will give you several pictures to choose from or you can visit his website at BobWhiteStudios.Com (I think that's it).  One day Bob and I will get to fish together but for now I'll have to settle for being "facebook friends."  Anyway, here is the second in the series.  I believe it's my third winter scene overall this winter.  I am learning more with each painting.  I  hope you enjoy it:

Winter Scene #2

My second winter scene of the 2012-2013 winter.  This was painted from a reference pic.  I really like using a knife for winter scenes.  Still not comfortable using it in scenes from other seasons.  I really like winter scenes as they are easy for me to paint relatively well.  The other seasons aren't so easy for me to get the colors interesting.

"First To Change" 8x10 oil-panel

Toying with color a bit here...I kind of like it but not certain if I want to go this way as an artist...still learning and trying to understand a lot.
